Initiative for Cross-Cultural Leadership Development
Since the end of the cold war and the coincident acceleration of globalization, the work of competent leadership has become incredibly complex. Failure to understand and execute in that complexity has resulted in obvious consequences that are not necessarily the result of ill will.
Our shortcomings certainly highlight the immense opportunities in geopolitics, where ignorance of the differences in fundamental cultural beliefs has caused misunderstanding, conflict and ultimately violence.
There are visible opportunities in business as well, as leaders are striving with few tools to inspire the effort of a global and often disconnected workforce. In general, leaders of all organizations most frequently mistake the fact of technological connection or the force of their own personal conviction with the ability to generate human desire to collaborate in meaningful change or work.
The purpose of this initiative is to participate in remedying this condition. Our goal is to discover the elements necessary for leaders to inspire others to take action, regardless of the philosophical, religious, ethnic, geographic or cultural orientation of the leader or the group. Further, we want to build those elements into a curriculum of experience and other learning that will provide leaders of the next century with the necessary skills, traits, behaviors and character to bring more of the world together in shared purpose.
